Biting Puppy!!!! HELP!!!
hey guys! it's Gisele's mummy here (she would be so mad if she new i was writing on her "mydogspace"
) i need help!! I know she is still young and puppies bite and it's nomal but i'd like to deal with the problem now before it becomes a big problem when she is older - she bites all the time you can't pet her without getting a bite (except for when she is really tired...even then she sometimes has a little nibble..) i have looked up on the net and found some sugestions that i have tried but have not worked iv'e tried -*"yelping" to show her that it hurts
*putting toys in her mouth for her to bite instead of me - but you can only to that to an extent as there is not always a toy on hand...
*ignoring her - she just follows me
*i have brought her numerous amounts of "teething toys" and "dental bone" type treats
i'd just like to know what your mums and dads did that worked to stop you guys from biting - i'll try anything!
thanks guys!!!

Hey Gisele's mum,
When I was a puppy I remember that I used to bite, but only in play. When I would bite dad he would make a silly impression of a dog and yelp suddenly. This attracted my attention and I stopped the bite. But if I did it again, he would yelp and hold my snout for a few seconds. I didn't like that very much. Being a quick learner I soon realised that I was playing too rough and I gave up biting people.
But not my toys...hehehehe
Another technique, and this is going to sound silly, is to actually put you hand back into the dogs mouth. With a bit of pressure as if you want the dog to bite you and he will actually think this is weird and not bite. He will soon lose interest in biting intentionally. But as play involves grabbing things, and dogs don't have hands, he will use his mouth as a tool.
If I was especially naughty dad would bark the word NO and take me to the laundry to be by myself for ten or fifteen minutes to think about my bad behavour. Again, after the word NO, I knew I was pushing the limit.
When I came out of solitary, I would give dad my biggest saddest I'm sorry look and he would crouch down and gives be best pats and cuddles. He is putty in my paws.
I hope this helps you and Gisele. Remember we don't understand the human principle of smacking the backside and would become wary of you and all humans. A growly voice in a menancing tone gets through to us better if we do something that you don't agree with.
It's always better to show us what you want us to do, and reward us when we do it. A piece of chicken and a bit of praise is always going to get the best result. Don't show us what we shouldn't do.
Anyway, big licks and good luck.

Hi ,
When I play to rough dad holds me down gently on the floor with a couple of fingers to the neck as if another big dog would do to a naughty pup.... Just a few seconds till I submit.....
It is a dominance thing and really has to be delt with before we are to big.......

Julianne's Mom here,
Julianne bites my feet alot. If you don't have some BitterApple tospray on your hands and lightly on your feet get some pepper sause (Not the red kind, the one with the peppers in the bottle that you can see) and I lightly sprinkle it on my feet and hands. Hope I helped!![]()

hi from benny,
i never was a biter. but skippa,my bro was. try putting your hand in her mouth when she bites and keep it there. we dont really want to bite you . its a game . if you ruin the game its not fun anymore. so the game get lame and we stop playing it. also, when you offer food. give the whole hand not just finger tips. we dont want to bite you really so it makes us be gentle.
cheers from benny.
